Ivory tower effort won't make media more diverse

Ivory tower effort won't make media more diverse: "he collaboration among journalism programs at Columbia University, the University of California at Berkeley, Northwestern University, the University of Southern California and Harvard University will be funded primarily by grants from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

This effort may be well-intended. It is also wrongheaded. It is preoccupied with enhancing their status and buffing up the work of, as the ivory tower types like to say, 'the academy.'"
